The relationship between international human rights law and international humanitarian law: Taking stock at the end of 2022?

Noting that 2022 marked the 45 th anniversary of Additional Protocols to 1949 Geneva Conventions – first treaties explicitly noted relationship between international human rights law and humanitarian - this column reflects on how these two bodies has developed since 1977. It demonstrates while much progress been made internationally towards understanding law, there are still obstacles be overcome if goal is apply in a complementary fashion achieve maximum protection person.
